Moat House resident celebrates 106th birthday

The reigning monarch was our Queen’s great grandfather. The Russian Revolution was big news. Women didn’t have the vote. And the Wright brothers’ inaugural flight had happened just two years previously. The year was 1905 – the year George Assinder was born.

Thursday, 10th February sees Mr Assinder celebrating his 106th birthday. And his age is no barrier to the celebrations. He’ll be hosting a party for family and friends at The Moat House in Great Easton where he lives. The theme will be days gone by and guests will be entertained with vinyl records played on a gramophone!

Mr Assinder is not just the eldest resident at The Moat House, he is the eldest resident across the 12 age-exclusive villages owned by Retirement Villages Ltd – which have a combined population of nearly 2,000 people.

Retirement Villages Ltd has been developing and managing bespoke lifestyle and care villages for the over 55s for almost 30 years. The pioneers of the UK model, the company now has approaching 2,000 residents living in 12 locations spread across 10 counties in the south of the country.
