Glorious scenery along the Rhine

If Julia Bradbury’s recent BBC TV series, German Wanderlust, has got you thinking about pulling on your walking boots, then Walks Worldwide has a number of trips which mirror Julia’s adventures.

Along the Rhine – 8 days from £595 pp
Experience the same stunning views of the imposing castles, vineyards and mediaeval villages enjoyed by Julia on her walk. This is the very best of the Rheinsteig waymarked trail, covering the section from Koblenz to Rudesheim on the Upper Middle Rhine. Walking is graded as moderate (5-6 hours a day) and the holiday costs from

In Search of the Swan King – 8 days from £595 pp
The Bavarian Alps is one of the most stunning regions of Germany and this walking holiday explores the fabled story of the eccentric King Ludwig II’s life. Known as ‘The Swan King’ he is best known for creating the fantasy castle of Schloss Neuschwanstein, the most famous landmark in Bavaria.

The itinerary includes visits to many of his castles, hauntingly perched high on the rock and surrounded by alpine peaks.

Walking is graded as ‘moderate/demanding’ walking between five and eight hours per day, with some steep ascents and descents. The holiday costs from £595 pp (March-November) which includes 7 nights’ B&B (hotel – upgrade option also available), luggage transfers, route guide and maps.
