ParentPlanner - Communication made easy

New app from ParentMail +Pay means parents can keep up-to-date with all their child's activities via their mobile phone.

Parents (and guardians or carers) will soon be able to stay on top of communications from their child's school or club, pay dinner money, and even be alerted that kit is needed for football or gym, all through an easy 'app' on their mobile phone.

The revolutionary 'ParentPlanner' app has been developed by ParentMail +Pay, the UK's leading school communications service used by over 4,750 schools and 3 million parents, to make it easy for parents to connect with and co-ordinate all their children's activities, both inside and outside of school.

Every parent knows it's difficult keeping track of all the school activities, clubs and events their children take part in. There's always something that needs paying for, an event to attend, or ingredients that need preparing in time for cooking club!

To make their lives easier, the unique ParentPlanner will allow parents to link with all schools, nurseries or clubs that their children attend that also use ParentMail +Pay. This will give them one central place to view and co-ordinate all their children's activities in a simple-to-use calendar.

Mums and dads will also be able to share a calendar, making it is easier for them to involve themselves in their child's life as well as improving parent/child relationships.

ParentPlanner is compatible with all web-enabled mobile and smart phones and delivers information straight into the hands of parents where it is most accessible and convenient to them. For parents whose children attend a school(s) using ParentMail +Pay, as well as receiving school information, they will be able to pay for school items and authorise school trips via ParentPlanner. They will also be able to add their own activities and reminders to each of their children's individual calendars, all at the touch of a button on their mobile phone.

Taking advantage of modern technology, the app responds to the way parents communicate today, as well as supporting research which shows that parents have a significant positive effect on the achievement and adjustment of young people by supporting their learning outside of the classroom (Harris and Goodall 2007).

Geoff Jones, director at ParentMail +Pay, says: "Mobile phones are very much a part of our daily lives and for many of us they are at the centre of communications for our business and social lives.

"Over 4,750 schools, nurseries and clubs use ParentMail and it made sense to us to develop ParentPlanner to help bring these all together for parents - and to provide them with a simple way to co-ordinate all their children's activities from one central place."

The ParentPlanner app will be available to parents to download from September 2011.
