Bentley Ice Speed Record car at Cholmondeley Pageant of Power
Bentley Motors will unleash its world-record breaking Continental Supersports Convertible Ice Speed Record car at this year’s Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, the celebration of power and speed held at the Cholmondeley Estate, Cheshire. With the four-time world champion rally driver and honorary ‘Bentley Boy’ Juha Kankkunen at the wheel, the Supersports Convertible last month set a Guinness Book of Records world best of 205.48 mph on the frozen waters of the Baltic Sea.
A founding sponsor since 2008, Bentley recently agreed to sponsor the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power until 2013. At this year’s Pageant, which takes place over three days for the first time (15-17 July), the iconic British luxury car manufacturer will showcase award-winning cars like the new Continental GT and its new flagship, the Mulsanne. There will also be the opportunity to see the 2003 Le Mans winning Speed 8 as it powers around the circuit.
James Hall, Event Director for the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, added, “We’re extremely proud to see Bentley extend their support and are looking forward to showcasing one of the world’s most powerful and exciting cars of recent years – the record-breaking Bentley Supersports Convertible.”
The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power will be bigger and even more action packed than ever in 2011. On display and completing high-speed laps throughout the weekend will be dozens of celebrated vehicles, from the Jordan F1 car which Giancarlo Fisichella piloted to victory at the Brazil Grand Prix in 2002 to motoring legends, such as the Lancia Delta Integrale WRC Martini rally car.
Alongside the on-track automotive action there will be displays of motorcycles, helicopters, powerboats and hovercrafts, as well as the only opportunity to see a live army combat simulation anywhere in the country. The explosive display of British Army combat power will feature tanks, troops and field artillery all engaged in a breathtaking battle simulation.
Winning the Best Tourist Event in Cheshire, and drawing in more than 50,000 visitors in 2010, the Pageant of Power has fast gained a reputation that makes early booking essential.
