Skoda UK consolidated a record breaking 2010 this week by sweeping the board at Skoda Auto’s global awards ceremony. More than 100 representatives from over 30 Skoda offices around the world attended the prestigious ceremony in Prague, Czech Republic, and it was the UK who walked away with three top awards.

Named Best Car Manufacturer 2010 by Which? and Best Manufacturer by readers of What Car?, Skoda UK cemented its reputation for outstanding customer care by picking up the ‘Human Touch and Customer Care’ award.

The Skoda UK team was also recognised for its outstanding efforts over the year in the areas of marketing, network development and training by scooping the top ‘Marketing’ award. This accolade also recognised the award-winning Fabia vRS ‘Made of Meaner Stuff’ advert, which was launched in the UK in November 2010.

Robert Hazelwood, Skoda UK Director said, “Skoda continues to go from strength to strength in the UK and 2010 was a fantastic year for the brand. Demand for all products in our five-model  line-up has surged and customers recognise that Skoda is a brand that delivers great quality cars at outstanding value for money, delivered and serviced by retailers who take excellent care of their customers. To win two out of the five category awards and to scoop the overall importer of the year prize is an outstanding accomplishment and is testament to the hard work from everyone at Skoda UK and our network.”

Total registrations for last year reached a new high of more than 41,000 cars, representing a 10.5%increase on 2009 and a 2% market share – another milestone in the continued success for the Czech brand.

Skoda's best-selling model in the UK last year was the Octavia, with 17,000 vehicles, followed by the Fabia (15,000 vehicles), Superb (3,400 vehicles; up 29% on 2009), Yeti (4,300 vehicles), and Roomster (1,600 vehicles).

Skoda Auto achieved its best ever sales result in 2010 with 762,600 vehicles sold worldwide, representing an increase of 11.5% when compared with 2009 (2009: 684,200), and breaking the threshold of three quarters of a million vehicles sold for the first time in the company’s history.

With further big investment for growth in the coming year, Skoda looks set to continue its success in 2011.
