Rolls-Royce to exhibit at London show

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has confirmed that it will be exhibiting at next year’s British International Motor Show, set to take place at ExCel in London from 20 July.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ian Robertson said, "We are delighted to be attending our ‘home’ show and in one of the world’s largest markets for Rolls-Royce. We attend many major events around the globe and now we are looking forward to bringing our products to a world class show on our own doorstep."

Rolls-Royce displayed the Phantom and the 100EX experimental convertible car in 2004 at the last UK motor show held at the Birmingham NEC. This formed part of the company’s Centenary celebrations and the marque finished the year having sold record numbers of cars. The Phantom has since gone on to dominate the super-luxury sector. A new convertible model, inspired by 100EX, will join the range in 2007.

Organised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the first motor show took place at Crystal Palace in 1903. From 1937 to 1976 it was held at Earl’s Court before moving to the NEC in Birmingham in 1978. The British International Motor Show has taken place every other year since then with the last show in May 2004.
