Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair

On Sunday 19th June the Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is pitching up just off Brick Lane, returning for its most anticipated and creative event yet. Now in its eighth successful year, the Vauxhall Motors sponsored boot fair has made a real name for itself with art-loving Londoners.

The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair makes art accessible to the general public in a unique and entertaining way. The event provides a rare opportunity for people to meet high profile artists as they sell their work at bargain prices from Vauxhall car boots.

Vauxhall Motors continues to support style and design through this East London event; nurturing artistic creativity among established and emerging names. This year Vauxhall boots will host more artists than ever before including; Marcus Harvey, Gavin Turk, Sir Peter Blake, Bob and Roberta Smith, Oliver Guy Watkins, Pete Fowler, Jessica Albarn, Guts for Garters and style icon Pam Hogg

Various Vauxhall vehicles have been commissioned by Catlin Art Prize curator Justin Hammond, established art magazine; Turps Banana, Penguin Classics and Julia Royse, independent curator and director of POSTED who has collaborated with emerging artist duo ‘The Girls’ to transform a Vauxhall postal van.

Come down on the day and join the editors of Five Dials magazine and Penguin Classics as they make their next edition from scratch, live from the back of a Vauxhall. Using little more than an old photocopier, a crate of blank-covered ‘My Penguin’ Classics and the skill and ingenuity of anyone passing by, the next edition will be created. Any books decorated by some of the more famous artists in attendance will be auctioned for charity.

Turps Banana, Marcus Harvey’s innovative and highly collectible painting magazine, will be presenting a just-for-the-day print portfolio at an incredible bargain price with works by leading artists such as Chantal Joffe, Ryan Mosely and Marcus Harvey himself.

Browsing for art bargains is not the only attraction of the day, with delicious food and drink courtesy of Ox-heart buns, St John’s Bread and Wine and the Southampton Arms, along with entertainment from The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club and lots of art that you can get stuck into and do yourself.

Full line-up will be announced in mid April at artcarbootfair.com.
