The Tour de France is the world’s most viewed sporting event on TV, but thanks to some late availability at Keycamp’s Languedoc parcs, which lie close to the route of Stage 15 (17 July), it’s still possible to experience the breathtaking thrill of the race in person with seven nights costing from just £908 per family, including Dover to Calais ferry crossings.

On Your Bike at Canet Plage:  Seven nights from £908 per family including travel

Why not combine the Tour with a touch of culture? Camping Club Mar Estang is just ten kilometres from historic Perpignan and within easy day trip distance of Carcassonne, around which the race will skirt.

With bike hire available at the parc, there’s also chance to follow in the tracks of the Tour legends themselves; while facilities including an impressive six pool complex and sports such as windsurfing, rafting, scuba diving, gym and tennis, plus the nearby beach, means there’s lots to do even for the most active of holidaymakers.

Seven nights at Camping Club Mar Estang from 14 July for a family of two adults and up to four children staying in a Villanova mobile home will cost £908, including a return Dover-Calais ferry crossing.

Bikes and Beaches: Seven nights at Marseillan Plage, £936 per family including travel

Alternatively, just under 50 miles from the stage finish of Montpellier, and close to some beautiful beaches, Les Méditerranées offers the perfect spot to combine the best of the biking action with some family beach fun.

There’s plenty to do at the parc too with a fantastic swimming pool complex, plus activities including scuba diving, volleyball, football and table tennis. Parc run children’s clubs are also available, while there are some great day trip opportunities to some superb local vineyards and the nearby Aqualand Waterpark.

Seven nights at Keycamp’s Les Méditerranées from 16 July for a family of two adults and up to four children staying in a Villanova mobile home will cost £936, including a return Dover-Calais ferry crossing.
