Would-be home owners in Manchester could find that escaping the rental trap is easier than they thought thanks to Redrow.

The award-winning housebuilder is working with Manchester City Council to provide new homes in the Moston and Harpurhey areas of the city.

With prices from as little as £104,995 they’re an attractive prospect for those starting out in life. And with the help of an equity scheme administered by the City Council, they’re even more affordable as customers can defer paying up to a quarter of the price.

Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), explained: “Our ‘easi:buy’ incentive offers a lifeline to those who may otherwise have resigned themselves to a lifetime of renting and has already helped dozens of people in North Manchester buy the home of their dreams at a price they can afford.”

Thanks to ‘easi:buy’ a two-bedroom ‘Kentmere’ style property at Hanson Gardens can be snapped up for an initial outlay of just £78,746.

Buyers can defer paying the remaining 25% for up to 10 years or until they have more funds available. Crucially the equity loan is interest free for 10 years.

“One of the biggest barriers to homeownership is the need for a hefty deposit, which can be difficult to raise while you’re paying rent. But with ‘easi:buy’ you could find that you only need to save £4,000. The equity scheme also means that customers will only need a mortgage for 75% of the value of the property; so they should have access to some of the better mortgage interest rates, usually reserved for those with large deposits,” Lesley added.

The ‘Kentmere’ makes a great starter home. Simple, yet stylish it enjoys a convivial open plan layout with a combined kitchen, dining area and lounge. French doors lead from the living area to the garden, flooding the room with lots of natural light. Upstairs the master bedroom is generously proportioned; while the bathroom enjoys quality fixtures and fittings.

“The ‘Kentmere’ is perfect for those starting out in life but if you have children and need a larger property we also have a choice of three and four-bedroom homes in Moston. Quality built and affordably priced, unlike some older second hand properties they won’t need lots of repairs and renovations before you can move in; and you’ll have the peace of mind that you’re new home is covered by a 10-year ‘Buildmark’ warranty,” Lesley commented.

The Moston area has undergone a major transformation in recent years with investments in amenities including schools, libraries, shops and public transport.

Potential purchasers can explore the area thanks to video footage online at redrow.tv. The award-winning online television channel also includes an easy to follow video guide to ‘easi:buy’ and footage of Redrow customers talking about their homes.
