Krakow Film Festival

Krakow welcomes its 51st film festival later this month, as the Polish capital of culture welcomes one of the country’s biggest celebrations of cinema.

The famous Krakow Film Festival runs from 23 to 29 May this year and is the oldest event of its kind in Poland. It was first staged back in 1961 and is now one of the oldest film events dedicated to documentary, animation and short films in Europe.

As in previous years, films will compete for golden and silver dragons (international short film competition), horns (international documentary competition) and hobby horses (national competition). A number of films will also be screened in the non-competitive element of the event including

Acting Director of the Polish National Tourist Office Bogdan Becla said: “We have a wonderfully rich tradition in film and cinema in Poland and the Krakow Film Festival is certainly an established, world-famous event.”
