Head to Newquay in Cornwall this Spring Bank Holiday half-term and enjoy – courtesy of Daish’s Holidays – 50% reductions on the adult price for youngsters aged between five and 15 years.

This extra special deal applies to four-night breaks on a half-board basis in a family room at the company’s Barrowfield Hotel starting on 1 June, with adults paying £159 each (twin share)  and children just £80 each.  Youngsters under five years of age are free of charge.

Further afield – this time in Jersey – Modern Hotels is offering three-night Spring Bank Holiday breaks in St Helier at the extra-special twin share rate of £199 per person, a reduction of £65.

This price applies to departures on 28, 29 or 30 May and includes return Fastcat crossing from Weymouth, transfers and accommodation with breakfast at either the three-star Mayfair or Metropole Hotel in St Helier. Children, two-11 years and sharing with two adults, pay just £129 each.

Both hotels offer a wealth of facilities which include an indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and gym, along with bar, restaurant, coffee shop and sun terrace. modernhotels.com

And just across the Irish Sea, Irish Ferries Holidays offers holiday cottages the length and breadth of Ireland for May Half Term stays.  The high quality holiday villages are superb value packaged with return ferry crossings for the family car and passengers.

For example, four-star Hayward Mews offer the freedom of self-catering with the bonus of a large indoor pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna on-site, plus reduced green fees at the adjacent golf club.

Set in rural County Dublin, the cottages are only 16 miles from the city. Each sleeps up to five and a week starting 28 May costs £708 in total, including ferry crossings.  A second consecutive week, for those who have time, is free: a saving of £472. IrishFerries.com/Holidays
