Buy with a low deposit at Hardwick Green, Stockton

There is good news for anyone looking to buy a place of their own but who doesn’t have a big deposit – they could need less than £3,500 to move into a new 2-bedroom home at Barratt North East’s popular Hardwick Green development in Stockton.
Only a small deposit is needed thanks to the HomeBuy Direct scheme, which enables buyers to move in for just 70 per cent of the usual price.
HomeBuy Direct actually came to an end last year, but some homes at Hardwick Green are still eligible, thanks to a further release of Government funds called Kickstart, designed to boost the local housing market.
Kickstart brings the move-in price of a “Washington” terraced home down from £97,500 to £68,250, with a deposit of just £3,413 – and Barratt will also include carpets.
The scheme is open to a wide range of people who don’t currently own their own home. Eligible households will be earning less than £60,000.
Fenton Hewitt, Sales Director at Barratt North East: “Everyone knows that public spending is being squeezed at the moment, so it’s great news that local people are still able to get on the property ladder with the help of Government money.
“HomeBuy Direct can dramatically reduce the initial cost of house purchase and for people who have been priced out of the market for years this is an outstanding opportunity. I’d urge anyone interested to come and talk to us as soon as possible.”
HomeBuy Direct gives buyers the opportunity to move in for only 70 per cent of the price, with the remaining 30 per cent covered by a loan from Barratt and the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency. Because a smaller mortgage is required, monthly repayments are more affordable.
Hardwick Green is well-located on the north western fringe of Stockton, with a range of amenities on the doorstep. It is growing into a real community, with more than 100 Barratt homes already occupied.
The Washington is a best-seller with first-time buyers who appreciate its open-plan layout, two double bedrooms and 624 sq ft of living space. It has a good-sized living room with dining area and French windows into the garden, fully-fitted kitchen complete with oven, hob and hood, a downstairs cloakroom.
A mix of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes is available, with four showhomes open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm (11.00am to 6.00pm Mondays).
