Imperial Commercials Volkswagen Van Centre Stoke enjoyed two days of good weather last week at the Staffordshire County Show.

Some 30,000 people attended the show on the Wednesday and 40,000 on the Thursday and the star of the show on the Imperial stand was the all New Volkswagen Amarok.

Visitors could browse 450 stands and see more than 5,000 animals, ranging from cattle to rabbits over the two days.

Simon Jackson, from Volkswagen Van Centre Stoke, on Leek New Road, Cobridge said “We are very excited about the interest in the Amarok and we have taken a lot of enquiries. The vehicle is a big hit with farmers, dog owners and agricultural workers as it has the largest load capacity on the market with enough space to fit a pallet sideways. The Amarok combines excellent off-road abilities with solid, predictable car-like handling. The combination of a solid, leaf-spring rear axle, mechanical locks on the centre and rear diffs and traction control means that most extreme off-road situations require little more than pressing the accelerator and adjusting the wheel so that it goes in the correct direction. The vehicle can also be specially treated in the loading area with a polyethylene coating which makes it very hardwearing."

Other exhibits at the show were a Caddy Maxi, a Transporter Shuttle, a crafter LWB Maxi and a Crafter LWB van converted into a 16ft minibus for St John’s Ambulance by Stanford Coachworks. This is the first minibus conversion for Staffordshire St John’s Ambulance and the vehicle will be straight into service giving regular days out to Stroke victims and the elderly. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid - about 800,000 last year alone – so that they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved. They teach young people in schools, people in the workplace and in the community.

Group Marketing Executive Jessica Smith said "This is the first time we have exhibited at the Staffordshire show to take part in the event and we enjoyed it so much, we will be back next year. A lot of hard work goes into the preparation for the show so its nice to be rewarded at the end of it with lots of interest."

Preparations are already underway to book again for next years show, which is likely to be held a week later on June 6 and 7 due to the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
