New Fabia awarded low insurance group ratings

11th April 2007 Print
Skoda Fabia How low can you go? Well, all the way to the bottom if you’re talking about the New Fabia’s insurance groupings and premium costs.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) – the body responsible for setting all UK car insurance groupings – has decided that the entry level 1.2 litre 60bhp Fabia 1 will have the lowest rating possible when it hits showrooms on May 17th: Group 1. In fact, even the top of the range 1.9 TDI PD 105bhp Fabia 3 manages to remain within the affordable insurance Group 4.

Pricing for the stunning new range starts at £7,990 for the 1.2 litre 60bhp Fabia 1 and rises to £13,015 for the 1.9 TDI PD 105bhp Fabia 3. Standard equipment includes electric front windows, ABS and a CD player.

The Fabia has been a huge success since the launch of the first generation model in 2000. More than 1.5 million have been built in that time with over 130,000 finding happy homes with buyers here in the UK. This popularity looks set to continue with the new model.

The world premiere of the new Škoda Fabia took place at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007. This will be followed by its UK launch in early May. Estate versions of the new car are due to come to Britain in early 2008. Until then production of current estate will continue.
