Skoda Auto opens new training & education centre

Skoda Auto a.s. has opened a brand new training & education centrecalled Na Karmeli. As a result, the students of Skoda Auto College will start the upcoming academic year in new premises.

The guests of the official opening of the new university campus in Mladá Boleslav included government officials (Prime Minister Miroslav Topolánek, Central Bohemia Governor Petr Bendl), the Mladá Boleslav Mayor Raduan Nwelati, as well as Skoda Auto BOD Chairman Detlef Wittig and Martin Jahn, Skoda Auto BOD Member responsible for HR management.

The Na Karmeli training & education centre will enhance the prestige of the Skoda Auto College (new representative premises) and open up new opportunities to further intensify the institution's cooperation with other technical universities and colleges.

“Na Karmeli's educational capacity is as many as 800 students. In addition, the centre is going to provide various training and education programmes to about 3,400 Skoda Auto employees every year. Besides the economics-oriented Skoda Auto College, the centre will become a home for some departments of the Liberec Technical University with which Skoda Auto closely cooperates in the area of technological development. New representative premises and reconstructed historical buildings of the local church and monastery will be a venue for various social and entertainment events,“ said Martin Jahn.

The car manufacturer's investment in the country's largest corporate education centre amounts to nearly CZK 390 million. The state-of-the-art site includes top-class laboratories for research and development work the results of which Skoda Auto intends to utilise in its core business. The college courses and the staff education programmes are supposed to help in building professional skills tailored to meet Skoda Auto's needs.

The Na Karmeli construction project was performed by ADNS architekti, a company that had impressed the Company management with vast experience in integrating modern structures to historical parts of towns and cities and reconstructing historical buildings.
