Skoda named ‘Best Buy’ at What Car? Awards

22nd January 2008 Print
Skoda’s practical Octavia estate has been voted ‘Best Buy Estate Under £15,000’ by What Car? magazine.

The publication’s award ceremony was again held at London’s famous Grosvenor House hotel. Representatives from every car firm were in attendance along with many of the country’s top motoring journalists.

The Octavia 1.6 FSI Classic (which costs £12,965) saw off fierce competition from the likes of the Kia Cee’d SW, Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra to win the ‘Best Buy’ accolade.

What Car? editor, Steve Fowler, said: “You don’t need to have a large budget to buy a practical estate car with loads of room. As the contenders in this price bracket prove, you don’t have to feel short-changed in other departments if you’ve got less than £15,000 to spend, either.

“As an overall package, the Octavia is still ahead of its rivals. The boot is large, free from intrusions and quick to expand to its full size, thanks to its easy-to-fold rear seats. It’s also a very comfortable car with a high-quality feel and plenty of equipment included as standard. Since it’s been around for a few years now, the Octavia is also available with decent discounts to make it an every more attractive proposition.”
