Peak season savings on family UK boating holidays

7th July 2011 Print

Families can enjoy a great value boating holiday in the UK this summer with savings of up to 20% on narrowboat hire - short breaks and week-long stays – from the Nantwich base in Cheshire courtesy of specialist boating holiday agency, Waterways Holidays.

The maximum discount applies to holidays taken between 22 and 31 July and means, for example, that a week’s hire starting 22 July of Chirk Navigator – a well-equipped 65ft narrowboat sleeping four – is reduced to £1072 (saving £268).

Or a three night weekend break from 22nd or four nights midweek from 25th are reduced to £750 (saving £188).  This includes gas for cooking, car parking, bed linen, British Waterways licence, short tuition cruise and buoyancy aids.

Cruising options from Nantwich include the picturesque Llangollen Canal with highlights such as the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - the "stream in the sky" spanning the Dee Valley - the town of Llangollen with its steam railway and Chirk Castle.

Alternatively cruise the Chester Canal – taking in the historic walled city of Chester, Beeston Castle and the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum – or the Four Counties Ring with attractions en route including the Harecastle Tunnel, the Wedgewood pottery factory and Tyreley locks.

waterwaysholidays.com offers live availability on more than 1500 narrowboats, cruisers and sailing yachts operated by the UK’s leading boat operators and with more than 50 different start locations.  The website also offers lots of advice on boating holidays as well as featuring listings of the latest special offers.
