No DIY required for homebuyers in Leicestershire
First time buyers Rebecca Faulks and Andrew Prickett have escaped the rental trap to a stylish, affordable home of their own in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire.
“We realised that we were wasting our money renting and if we didn’t act quickly we would never be able to buy a home of our own because it’s so hard to get onto the property ladder.” Rebecca explained.
“We looked around local estate agents but there wasn’t anything decent in our price range. All the old terraced homes we saw needed too much doing to them for the price they were asking so we decided to look for a new house.”
That search brought them to Redrow’s Rossendale Gardens venture in Earl Shilton.
“We looked at a few developers but the Redrow homes at Rossendale Gardens had more character from the outside and offered better value for money. If we had gone with another housebuilder we would only have been able to afford an apartment as the family homes were out of our price range.”
Rebecca, a 25-year-old administrator, and Andrew, a 33-year-old sales executive, are now settled in their two-bedroom ‘Dale’ style property at Rossendale Gardens.
“It’s hard for first time buyers to get onto the property ladder and if it wasn’t for our parents helping with the deposit and the affordability of the house we wouldn’t have been able to get onto the property ladder. We couldn’t find anything to match the quality,” Rebecca commented.
“We love the high specification of the house and everything in it, from the fixtures and fittings in the bathroom to the kitchen appliances. The rooms are quite big compared with the other new builds we looked at.”
She added: “I would definitely recommend Redrow because their prices are very reasonable compared with other new builds and other houses on the market generally. We have a brand new house that’s perfect and all for the price of an older terraced house that we would have had to spend a lot of money updating and renovating.
“The customer care was excellent. Suzanne the sales consultant, bent over backwards for us and the site manager has been round to make sure that any post-moving issues have been dealt with. Redrow have done everything we asked of them. They were all perfect.”
