14th July 2011 Print

Halifax has announced that it will again be offering its generous student current account to those going to university this September.

In 2011/2012 students applying for the Halifax account will continue to benefit from an interest free overdraft of up to £3,000, the best available in the market.

The Halifax Student Current Account is available to new and existing customers from 18th August 2011 and provides:

An interest free overdraft of up to £3,000 for up to five years - plus an extra year after graduation
A Visa Debit Card
Commission-free foreign currency and traveller's cheques
A 25% discount on AA breakdown cover
Free 24hr telephone and online banking

Jeremy Cross, Director of Personal Current Accounts for the Halifax, said: "The Halifax Student Current Account continues to offer students real long term value as an alternative to up front offers.  With one of the most generous interest free overdrafts available, the potential savings over a three or four year degree are considerable."
