Tests of Skoda Fabia Super 2000 reach next stage

27th August 2008 Print
The Skoda Fabia Super 2000 prototype is going to make its first appearance as a forerunner at this year's Barum Rally Zlín. As part of the testing process, the participation in this event is another step to homologation, scheduled for later this year.

Head of Skoda Motor sport, Michal Hrabánek states: “We see the possibility of testing the behaviour of the vehicle and its components in a real competition and speed tests as a valuable experience. The results and findings of the tests should move us ahead towards successful homologation and subsequent participation in both local and international competitions.” Hrabánek also adds: “Besides co-operating with our importers, we are also planning to offer the vehicle to private teams.”

The testing of the Skoda Fabia Super 2000 was officially launched this year in February. The test team did approximately five thousand kilometres over more than six months, developing and testing three prototypes. The test drivers included leading Czech racer Jan Kopecký, the Austrian rally champion Raimund Baumschlager and Sebastian Lindholm, the ex-champion from Finland. At the later stage of the process the test team also made use of the experience of two times world champion and rally icon, Carlos Sainz.
