Rainworth Skoda sponsors Olympic heroine’s homecoming Olympic double-gold winner Rebecca Adlington was welcomed by over 18,000 cheering fans in her home town of Mansfield with help from a local Skoda retailer.

The event, sponsored by Rainworth Skoda, celebrated the achievements of 19-year-old Rebecca who delighted the nation when she took two gold medals, one of which saw her smash the world record in the 800m freestyle.

She was greeted as she rode on an open top bus through the town centre where thousands lined the streets. When she arrived at the civic centre, she was presented with a pair of £450 gold water snake skin Jimmy Choo shoes by Mayor Tony Eddington.

The crowds were then treated to re-runs of her astonishing wins before a firework and confetti finale, a spectacle later broadcast on national news.

Ian Wilson, Business Development Manager at Rainworth Skoda, comments: “Everyone in Mansfield is really proud of what Rebecca has achieved and her success is thoroughly deserved.

“We at Rainworth Skoda wanted to express our gratitude to Rebecca for putting Mansfield on the map by sponsoring this event. Rebecca mirrors the Rainworth Skoda ethos of good family values and quality. We are all winners with people like Rebecca in the community.”

Rainworth Skoda’s sponsorship of the homecoming party is just one in a list of local events and community based organisations that it is affiliated with, from The Dukeries Rally and Wellbeck Cricket Club to Mansfield Rugby Club and the children’s anti-drug and life skills charity D.A.R.E. UK.
