Persimmon sponsors Ellesmere Port Town FC
Ellesmere Port Town Football Club is guaranteed to have a ‘grand’ forthcoming season thanks to a kind hearted donation from Manchester-based Persimmon Homes North West.
Persimmon Homes has donated £1,000 to the Club to help cover the cost of drill tops for the senior team, kits for the under ten’s and twelves teams and trophies for its annual tournament.
Andy Hayes, Chairman at Ellesmere Port Town Football Club, said: “The Club needs in the region of £60,000 every year to stay afloat and monetary donations are extremely hard to come by, especially at the moment. This is why we were so grateful to staff at Persimmon Homes for their offer of £1,000 – the money has already gone a really long way and has been truly appreciated by everyone involved with the Club.”
Sue Baker, sales adviser at The Beeches, Persimmon’s development at Ellesmere Port, said: “We are committed in supporting local projects so as soon as we heard that Ellesmere Port Town was in need of funding, we were determined to help.”
This latest sponsorship announcement is an extension to Persimmon’s ‘Healthy Homes’ campaign which highlights how residents can enjoy a healthier life both inside and outside the home.
Sue concludes: “We have recently launched our ‘Grow Your Own’ schools competition where we urge the nation’s youngsters to spend time getting back to basics to grow their own produce and have been named as main sponsors of the UK’s prestigious village cricket competition – the Village Cup. Getting out in the great outdoors should be encouraged and we hope that by teaming up with Ellesmere Port will encourage more youngsters to get involved with the Club.”
Persimmon also took a stand at the annual tournament, offering freebies and home moving advice to visitors.
The company is currently in discussions with Peel Holdings to secure land for a second phase of its successful Ellesmere Port-based development.
