Top reliability scores for Suzuki

The latest Warranty Direct reliability survey has been published by What Car? Magazine and Suzuki’s renowned reputation for reliability has again been reinforced with another strong result for the brand, scoring 38 points in the Reliability Index and in equal third place with two other Japanese manufacturers. The lower the number, the more reliable the brand, and Suzuki’s was considerably lower than the average score across all 35 manufacturers measured which was 100.
 
The Reliability Index takes into account all factors of a repair including the cost of parts,   frequency of failures as well as time off the road. Suzuki cars measured in the survey had an average age of 4.5 years, mileage of 33,400 and with just 15 per cent requiring a warranty claim. The average repair cost for the brand was also one of the lowest at £255.
 
In the Supermini segment, Suzuki’s low cost of ownership was also further highlighted  with previous generation Alto at 4.2 years old ranking as one of the cheapest cars to repair at £96.20 and a reliability index score of only 6.00.
 
And the good news continued in another reliability survey recently published by Which? magazine in which Suzuki scored an overall 81.5 per cent, ranking 7th across all manufacturers. Owners were asked how much they had spent on maintenance over the last 12 months as well as how long their car had been off the road; the average repair time for a Suzuki was 0.63 days - the second lowest measured - and was also one of the cheapest to repair at £191.
 
The Suzuki Alto is one of the most inexpensive cars to buy and own with Group 1E insurance, 64.2mpg on the combined fuel consumption cycle and emissions of 103g/km. SZ2 models are available with no VAT at just £6,995 until the end of September 2011.
