New Redrow homes in Cottingham have a timeless appeal that will never go out of fashion, according to the Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Councillor Kay West cut the ribbon to officially open the show homes at Holtby Gardens at a special event attended by estate agents, solicitors and other property professionals.

Speaking at the launch, Councillor West said: “It was such a warm feeling when I came around the corner to see these lovely houses, which are quite different from what has been built in recent years. The look of these houses reminds me of going back to my grandmother’s house but inside they have modern interiors, which is wonderful.

“It’s the attention to detail and little things that make all the difference, like the tiles on the bay and decorative brackets on the porches. The designs are very pleasing to the eye and they are also sustainable, as homes like these will never really go out of fashion.”

Featuring designs from Redrow’s New Heritage Collection, the architecture of the homes is inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. But it’s not just the look of the properties that gives a nod to the past – Holtby Gardens is named after novelist and journalist Winifred Holtby, who lived locally in the early part of the 20th century when the Arts and Crafts movement was still prevalent.

In keeping with the style of the homes and the era they reflect the official opening had a garden party feel and included entertainment from Hull-based Andiamo Strings.

John Grime, managing director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), commented: “The exterior of our homes are traditionally designed and complement the locality, but the interiors are more contemporary in design and reflect the living needs of the modern family. This, combined with the superb landscaping, sets Redrow apart in the marketplace. I’d like to thank the Redrow team and our sub-contractors, who have worked very hard to deliver these fantastic show homes.”

Located in Dunswell Road, Holtby Gardens enjoys a semi-rural setting on the edge of Cottingham. The village offers a range of local amenities including shops, cafes and business on two Victorian high streets plus a choice of schools.

Popular seaside resorts such as Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough are easily reached; while the local railway station offers regular trains to Hull (10 minutes) and Beverley (six minutes).

Potential purchasers can experience what life would be like at Holtby Gardens with a visit to the three-bedroom ‘Warwick’ and four-bedroom ‘Oxford’ show homes, open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
