Downsizers move to Elements for better quality of life

With Britain’s over 60s population living for longer and leading more healthy and active lives than ever before*, downsizing to a more manageable home and freeing up equity continues to be a popular option for new retirees, such as John and Mo Rosser. After deciding to downsize from their large family home in Surrey, the Rossers purchased a brand new four bedroom Cedar house at award-winning house builder Crest Nicholson’s Epsom development Elements. The move allowed them to enjoy all the space offered by a four bedroom house whilst freeing up time for their retirement which would otherwise have been spent maintaining their older previous home.

65 year old John comments: “The large four bedroom house our daughters had grown up in was starting to get a bit unmanageable, especially the large garden, so we decided to look for a home for our retirement that still offered plenty of space but would be easier to maintain. It was important for us to stay near our daughters and our grandchildren so we looked at new and second hand properties around the Surrey area, close to New Malden where we had lived before. As soon as we saw the Cedar house we both said “we could live here”. It’s a well-designed, well laid out house, and moving into a brand new home also meant that we wouldn’t have to do anything to it and probably won’t for the foreseeable future. The back garden is the perfect size for us, and we can enjoy the front garden without having to maintain it as it’s included on our service charge.”

“We’re absolutely delighted we moved here and couldn’t be happier – we’ve since been back to look at some of the other developments we viewed to make sure we made the right decision, and we definitely did. We love the location as Epsom is great and our daughters both live close by – our grandchildren love coming round. It’s also been fantastic to release some of the equity that was tied up in our previous house, allowing us to enjoy our retirement to the full.”

Christine Tiernan, Sales and Marketing Director at Crest Nicholson South, comments: “Elements at Epsom offers homes for all sorts of buyers – families, commuters, first time buyers, investors, or downsizers like the Rossers. It’s ideal for those wishing to enjoy their retirement as it’s located within easy reach of a range of amenities in Epsom’s town centre, but is also close by to the rolling Surrey countryside. The development itself is built around tree lined avenues, formal gardens and green spaces, making it the perfect country retreat. Feedback from buyers is that they like the more peaceful, quality of life available at Elements.”

Elements at Parkviews comprises a selection of contemporary two, three and four bedroom houses constructed on a former hospital site. Encompassing a wide range of eco features, the 322 homes will include air source heat pumps, water butts and recycling bins as part of the meticulous design to meet one of the highest Eco-Homes standards.

A perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Elements is an exclusive neighbourhood of wide tree-lined avenues surrounded by parkland. Private rear gardens and a variety of shared open spaces are available for homeowners to enjoy as well as balconies and full height windows which provide stunning views from selected properties. The development also includes ecological enhancements to protect natural habitats for native plants and birds creating a leafy neighbourhood ideal for families.

Elements is conveniently situated to offer excellent road and rail links, yet is situated within close proximity to the beautiful Surrey countryside to the South of Epsom for homeowners looking to enjoy the great outdoors. The site is a short distance from Epsom Common and Horton Country Park while Epsom Downs and its iconic race course are also within close proximity. For commuters, Ewell West Station and Epsom Station are within a short distance of the development with train journeys into London taking approximately 35 minutes. The M25 and A3 are also within easy reach.

Prices at Elements start at £264,995 for a two bedroom home. For further information, visit crestnicholson.com.
