Cash withdrawals available to RBS customers at the Post Office
Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS, NatWest and Ulster Bank) retail and business current account customers will be able to make cash withdrawals and balance enquiries at any Post Office branch in the UK, from Friday 23 September 2011.
Holders of 19 million RBS Group debit cards across the three brands will benefit from this new arrangement.
The Post Office will not charge for the transactions now available at all 11,800 Post Office branches nationwide. Withdrawals up to daily individual limits are available and customers only need their debit card and PIN to access their cash.
The Post Office has the largest retail network in the UK, with more branches than all of the UK high street banks combined. 99 per cent of the UK population lives within three miles of a branch and 90 per cent within one mile of their nearest Post Office outlet.
Around 80 per cent of total UK debit cardholders can now access their money at Post Office branches.
Paula Vennells, Managing Director, Post Office Ltd, said: "This new partnership between the Post Office and RBS Group means that around 80 per cent of total UK debit cardholders can now benefit from the convenience of withdrawing their money - completely free - at any Post Office outlet nationwide.
"The Post Office is committed to achieving a position where current account holders of all UK banks can access their accounts at Post Office branches."
Les Matheson MD, Retail Products RBS, said: "We welcome this move as it gives our customers another option to access their money through the Post Office network."
