New homes in Braintree now available with FirstBuy

Selected properties can now be accessed by first-time buyers under the Government-backed FirstBuy scheme at Taylor Wimpey’s Scholars Mews development of houses for sale in Braintree, Essex.
Aspiring first-time buyers who are struggling to get a foot onto the Essex property ladder can get a helping hand with the FirstBuy scheme at Scholars Mews, Taylor Wimpey’s sought-after development of new build homes in Braintree.
This fantastic initiative, in association with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), lets qualifying purchasers secure their new home with a mortgage of just 75% of the full purchase price – plus a deposit as low as 5%, subject to status – and is available now with selected new homes for sale in Braintree at Scholars Mews.
The spacious three-bedroom ‘York’ semi-detached property in Braintree, for example, can be accessed by qualifying purchasers for 80% of its £221,995 purchase price under FirstBuy in Essex – that’s just £177,596 – including a £166,496 mortgage and a deposit of only £11,100.
Taylor Wimpey and the HCA will boost the purchaser’s down-payment with a joint loan of 20%, which is repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage term, or when the property is sold. To be eligible for FirstBuy, customers in search of property for sale in Essex must be first-time buyers with a household income below £60,000.
Michael O’Leary, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “FirstBuy offers first-time buyers a unique opportunity to leave renting behind and step on to the property ladder in style.
“But, with only a limited number of properties available to buy through this highly popular initiative at Scholars Mews, I would stress to anyone interested in taking advantage of the offer that they must be quick to avoid missing out.”
The ‘York’ at Scholars Mews offers an exceptionally well-planned layout, featuring a light and airy living room, a contemporary fitted kitchen and a handy guest cloakroom located on the ground floor.
Upstairs, the landing leads to three bedrooms and a main bathroom, while a private rear garden, a car port and additional allocated parking can be found outside.
In common with all new homes at Scholars Mews, the ‘York’ enjoys a high standard specification, including gas central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.
Scholars Mews is conveniently located in Deerleap Way within the prestigious Kings Park Village just to the east of Braintree town centre, and is bordered by the highly successful Lyons Hall Primary School.
Within walking distance is a Tesco supermarket and the Marks Farm Community Centre, which offers pre-school facilities.
Footpaths and cycleways link to the town centre to the west and to the River Blackwater and picturesque countryside to the north.
Braintree itself is a bustling town which boasts a choice of schools for all ages, as well as a wealth of shops, restaurants and bars. Meanwhile Freeport designer outlet village on the outskirts of the town boasts about 90 stores offering designer stock at factory prices.
A host of leisure opportunities are available in Braintree, including a sports centre, a cinema and a bowling alley, plus the new Braintree Arts Theatre.
Two railway stations, Braintree and Braintree Freeport, are both just over a mile from the new homes, and offer regular services into London Liverpool Street in about an hour.
For commuters, the A12, the M11 and the M25 are all within easy reach, putting Colchester and London within a comfortable driving distance. Meanwhile, for international travel, Stansted Airport is just 19 miles away.
