Barratt North East has unveiled a brand new range of homes at Berry Edge, Consett with the opening of a show village of five fully-furnished showhomes.

The development is the first in the country to display the new County Range of homes.

The new designs incorporate free-flowing living spaces large enough to be used in a variety of ways.

New features include floor-to-ceiling “light pods” in living rooms, which double the amount of window space compared to patio doors, flooding the room with light and blurring the boundary between inside and outside space.

Kitchens have been redesigned with integrated dining and family areas, perfect for relaxing, and bathrooms have higher specifications and bigger showers.

Top-floor bedrooms in townhouses have higher ceilings than usual and, together with large rooflights, create a sense of space and maximise natural light.

And as fuel bills continue to soar, the new designs will be energy-saving – 25 per cent more so than homes built just five years ago and around 40 per cent more energy efficient than those built ten years ago.

The new range marks the culmination of a three-year programme of investment by the Barratt Group and is the result of extensive consultation with more than 1,000 current and prospective homebuyers.

Mike Roberts, Managing Director at Barratt North East said: “The new homes themselves are not revolutionary, but further raise the bar of what customers can expect from a new Barratt home.

“They include features more commonly associated with higher-priced homes while remaining outstanding value for money.”

Barratt is building a selection of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes at Berry Edge, priced from £110,000 to £201,500. Five have already been sold off-plan.
