Homebuyers Nancy and Jim Clark found their perfect destination at Taylor Wimpey’s Windmill Chase development of new homes for sale in Downham Market, Norfolk.

Many retirees find themselves attracted to the south coast where they spend their days enjoying the ocean views, breathing in the fresh air and relaxing by the English seaside.

But having lived and worked in Bognor Regis for several years, Nancy and Jim Clark were ready to try something different and with close family living in East Anglia, a new property in Norfolk seem the ideal option.

And the couple were fortunate to find their perfect place at Taylor Wimpey’s superb Windmill Chase development of houses for sale in Downham Market.

“We were living in a two-bedroom bungalow near Bognor Regis and after my daughter fell ill she moved nearer to us so that we were close by,” says Nancy (62), recalling the couple’s search for property for sale in Norfolk.

“But she was living in the town centre which meant I still had to travel to see her every day and it was getting too much for me, so we all decided we should move to Norfolk together.”

With Jim’s close family already living in East Anglia, it felt like the perfect place for them to unwind in a quiet and beautiful setting.

“Downham Market is lovely – the town is small but you can get everything you need close to Windmill Chase,” says Nancy, a retired office worker. “And there is a train station near us which is great if we need to go elsewhere – or if our grandchildren want to come and visit!”

Moving into a brand new home was also part of the appeal for the retired couple as they wanted a stress-free future in Norfolk at Windmill Chase.

“It’s just what we needed – a new build home,” says Nancy. “We wanted somewhere which wouldn’t need any work doing to it and would be efficient to run.”

With their daughter set to move into her own new place just down the road, the couple have found their dream home – with their family close by.

Nancy and Jim (62) now live in a three-bedroom ‘Ashbourne’ townhouse at Taylor Wimpey’s stunning Windmill Chase development in Downham Market, Norfolk. Priced from just £159,995, these spacious homes have been generously laid out across three floors, the first of which features a contemporary open-plan kitchen/dining room with French doors leading out to the private rear garden, a reception room, a utility room and a handy guest cloakroom.

Upstairs, there is a light and airy living room, a bedroom and a main bathroom, while on the top floor is the en-suite master bedroom and a further bedroom, and outside the property benefits from allocated parking.

Alternatively, the two-bedroom ‘Rothay’ coach house-style apartment is priced at just £100,000 at Windmill Chase, and is available to qualifying first-time buyers for 80% of its full price under the Government-backed FirstBuy scheme, full details of which can be obtained from the Sales Executive.

Alternatively, the fully furnished and decorated three-bedroom ‘Charleston’ ex-showhome is now on sale for the fantastic price of only £159,995.

Perfectly placed on the edge of Downham Market, yet within easy walking distance of the town centre and train station, Windmill Chase takes its name from the historic Denver Windmill, restored recently to mill flour for locally produced bread.

The town offers a wide selection of high street shops, supermarkets, specialist stores and a twice-weekly market in addition to a leisure centre with swimming pool and sports hall, two parks, tennis courts, squash courts and a golf course.

For days out, the flowers and birdlife of Welney nature reserve are close by, and Downham Market is within 26 miles of the beautiful sandy beaches of Hunstanton and the North Norfolk coastline.

Commuters will appreciate Downham Market Station is just a quarter of a mile away with direct services to London King’s Cross, while the towns of King’s Lynn and Wisbech are each just 12 miles away and Ely only 18 miles by road.
