Students from Trafford College have found an unlikely place to exhibit their art work – new Redrow apartments in Altrincham.

It means visitors to The Willows at Stamford Brook can enjoy viewing canvases and photographs as they look around the view apartment.

Anita Williams, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), explained: “Having recently finished building the apartments at The Willows we wanted to ensure that the lobby was an inviting space that encouraged people to come inside and look around. At Redrow we’re keen to play an active part in the communities in which we build and as Trafford College is on the doorstep of Stamford Brook the art students were the natural choice to help us bright up the entrance to the apartments.”

The homes at Stamford Brook are built on land that once formed part of the National Trust’s Dunham Massey estate. With that in mind, art and design and photography students from the Foundation and Level 3 Diploma courses were asked to put their creative talents to the test under the theme of nature and natural forms.

More than 50 pieces of art were created for the project including black and white photographic prints and life drawings on painted canvases.

Anita and Redrow sales co-ordinator Caroline Jones visited the college to assist tutors in selecting the best works to be included in the exhibition.

Mark Green, art and design programme leader at Trafford College, said: “We’re grateful to Redrow for giving students the opportunity to have their work exhibited in such prominent place. It’s not only given the students the chance to showcase their creative talents but also enabled them to reach a whole new audience.”

To see the exhibition of students’ artwork visit The Willows at Stamford Brook, where the view apartment is open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
