A leading Charles Church development has scored top marks with two property seeking brothers.

PE teacher Andy Smith is celebrating after taking his first step onto the property ladder and moving into a stunning two bedroom apartment at The Coppice in Billinge, Wigan.

And 27-year-old Andy has had no difficulty in getting to know his neighbours – his younger brother, Matty, a rugby league star with Salford City Reds, lives just around the corner!

Andy says: “I was interested in The Coppice even before Matty moved there. It’s a lovely development in a very nice area and I thought it would be reasonably close to where I work and an ideal place for me to live.

“But I was renting at the time and, being a first-time buyer, I knew I was going to struggle to get onto the property ladder.

“I’d been looking to buy for a couple of years but I was finding it difficult to save the deposit for the kind of property I wanted.”

Thankfully Charles Church held the solution to Andy’s problems with its Government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme. The scheme assists households which earn less than £60,000, who could not otherwise afford to purchase a suitable property unassisted on the open market, to buy a home.

Andy says: “The HomeBuy Direct scheme made all the difference. I was able to afford a very nice ground floor apartment which suits me down to the ground. Because of where it is located, it even includes its own private garden.

“It used to be the show apartment so it was already fitted with carpets and blinds when I moved in, which was great.

“If the time comes for me to move on, it’s such a great apartment I’m confident I won’t have any problems selling it or renting it out.”

And by the time Andy moved in to his spacious Mayfair apartment in September, his brother, Matty, and his partner, Jenny, had beaten him to it!

The couple also took advantage of the HomeBuy Direct scheme to move into an impressive three-storey Leicester house design, which boasts three bedrooms and a useful study.

Andy adds: “Both Matty and I have benefitted from HomeBuy Direct and it’s great that we’ve been able to afford the properties we wanted.

“When Matty told me there were apartments available just round the corner from him, it all seemed ideal.”

The Coppice is an exclusive development located on the former site of Billinge Hospital comprising a superb range of new houses and apartments.

David Hodgson, sales director for Charles Church North West, comments: “This exciting development offers a great place to live. It’s in an idyllic rural location between the towns of Wigan and St Helens, yet on the doorstep of cosmopolitan cities such as Liverpool and Manchester.

“For first time buyers we can show how easy it is to get onto the property ladder with the help of our shared equity scheme or HomeBuy Direct.”
