FirstBuy helps Chorley first time buyers move in

First time buyers Chris Wylie and Holly Maxwell love having a place to call home in Chorley. It is a dream come true thanks to help from Miller Homes and the Government backed FirstBuy initiative.
Chris and Holly have recently moved in to a ‘Rolland’ 4 bedroom, three storey semi-detached home at Miller Homes’ ‘Whittle-le-Park’ development in Buckshaw Village, Chorley. Chris explains why the couple decided to use FirstBuy: “FirstBuy made buying a home of our own affordable and meant we didn’t have to try and save for a large deposit. I would encourage other people struggling to buy their first home to take a look at the scheme. I know it’s not for everyone but I’d say don’t rule it out.”
FirstBuy is an equity loan scheme created to help first time buyers and people looking for a more affordable way to buy their own new build home. FirstBuy offers eligible buyers up to 20 per cent of the property value in the form of an equity loan on favourable terms. This is jointly funded by Miller Homes and the Government and it is interest free for the first five years. It enables people who qualify to own their own home by paying from 80 per cent of the cost now and they still own 100 per cent of the property from day one. It also helps reduce the deposit required and places homebuyers in a better position when applying for a mortgage.
When they were viewing the different house designs, it was the large master bedroom suite that sold the ‘Rolland’ to Chris and Holly. Chris says: “Our master bedroom is massive. Every morning we wake up there we think what a stunning space it is.” The ‘Rolland’s’ master bedroom takes up the whole of the top floor, along with its en-suite, so it is a private place to retreat to at the end of a busy day. The property has three further bedrooms on the first floor, along with a family bathroom. The ground floor accommodates a spacious lounge, a cloakroom with w.c. and a generous open plan kitchen dining area, ideal for family dining or entertaining.
Chris and Holly are also enjoying living in Chorley. Chris says: “It is really handy for Holly, as she works in the town, and as I work from home my commute is easy too! Buckshaw Village is an up and coming area and there are lots of amenities close by. We have already met some of our neighbours, who have also recently moved in, and there is already a good community spirit developing. I think ‘Whittle-le-Park’ is a really attractive place to live that offers new homes of outstanding quality.”
Besides being thrilled with their new home and its location, Chris and Holly are also impressed with the customer service they received. Chris says: “The assistance we received from Miller Homes was impressive throughout the whole buying process, particularly from the sales advisor who did everything to help us. In this day and age when customer service can be sadly lacking it was a really refreshing experience.”
