The first househunters to have purchased at Persimmon Homes’ Cityscape development in Peterborough through the new FirstBuy shared equity scheme are now looking forward to moving into their new home.

Manager Catherine Munnelly and her partner Matt Avory were living in rented accommodation but were keen to get onto the property ladder in Peterborough.

They found their ideal home at Cityscape – and had their hearts set on a two bedroom apartment, and thanks to the Government-funded FirstBuy scheme, their dream is about to become a reality.

Catherine says: “It was the quality of Persimmon’s properties which was important to us and we really liked the location of the development as it’s not far from the town centre.

“The FirstBuy scheme was of great assistance as we only had to pay a fraction of what a normal deposit would have been.”

FirstBuy is the brand new Government-funded shared equity scheme which helps a range of househunters from first time buyers to families onto the property ladder. Eligible applicants are offered an equity loan of up to 20 per cent of the purchase price and gain a mortgage for the remaining amount.

Catherine adds: “This is such a cost effective way to buy a new home, it’s as simple as that.”

FirstBuy is available on selected properties at a host of Persimmon Homes’ developments across the region. The scheme is available on both apartments and houses, enabling a wide variety of differing purchasers to achieve affordable homeownership.

Cheryl Bissett, sales director for Persimmon Homes East Midlands, comments: “FirstBuy has literally opened the door to a greater number of househunters, demonstrating that buying a brand new home with Persimmon is both an attractive and an affordable option.”

Prices start from just £99,995 for a two bedroom apartment on the open market or from £79,996 through FirstBuy.

Cityscape is being constructed in a cul-de-sac design so purchasers can enjoy the best of both worlds, close to the bright lights of Peterborough’s city centre, whilst being able to escape the hustle and bustle at home. There is an abundance of off road parking and two areas of public open space for residents and their friends and family to enjoy.

The development is conveniently located off Fletton High Street, which offers an array of shops and facilities, while Peterborough’s historic centre is found just a short distance away and hosts an extensive selection of shops, restaurants, pubs and leisure facilities. The city also has excellent transport access, with the A1M just approximately four miles from the centre, whilst via Peterborough’s mainline train station, the capital is approximately a 55 minute ride away.
