Celebrating a year of success at Chester retirement village
The spotlight was turned on a year of success at Chester’s luxury retirement village - Boughton Hall - at a special afternoon of celebration.
Boughton Hall has been in the headlines throughout the year, scooping two national awards and raising thousands of pounds for charity.
A champagne reception was held at the village, in Filkins Lane, Chester to celebrate the achievements and to present those involved with momentos of the occasion.
Boughton Hall is a purpose built retirement village with a range of one and two bedroom apartments grouped round country club style facilities. These are housed in the restored and extended 17th century mansion house, formerly used as a Barnardo’s children’s home.
The connection with Barnardo’s remains – Barnardo’s Developments Ltd is the joint developer. As a result the village has adopted Barnardo’s as its chosen charity. A number of fundraising activities throughout the year have seen the total raised for the cause top £2,000. The village’s annual fête, held in September, was the biggest money spinner of the year, raising £1,400.
Also being celebrated was the village’s award successes – a gold award from the Elderly Accommodation Counsel and, most recently, a highly commended at the UK Property Awards, one of only two give out on the night.
Neil Davison is the managing director for Enterprise Retirement Living, joint developer of Boughton Hall. He was on hand to present a cheque to Samantha Howarth of Barnardo’s, champagne to enterprising resident John Dalton for instigating a fundraising initiative in the village, and the UK Property Award certificate to general manager June Callaghan.
He said: “This year has been the busiest yet for Boughton Hall and I’m delighted to be able to share the success with the staff and residents who have made that happen.”
Building work on phase two is set to begin in 2012, extending the living options available.
Boughton Hall is an exclusive retirement community for the over 55s. The award winning village sits in four and a half acres in a conservation area around a mile from Chester city centre. Purpose-built apartment blocks are grouped around a Grade II Listed hall, restored to be the focal point of the village and housing an array of shared facilities for use by residents and their guests.
