FirstBuy enables Zac and Abigail to get on the property ladder at The Pinnacle, Taylor Wimpey’s development of new homes in Stoke-on-Trent.

When Zac Ball and Abigail Blackburn saw the Government-backed FirstBuy scheme at The Pinnacle, Taylor Wimpey’s development of houses for sale in Stoke-on-Trent, they knew their dreams of home-ownership would become a reality at last.

The couple had temporarily shelved their plans to purchase their first Stoke property for practical reasons when Abigail (22) fell pregnant in 2009 – but were delighted to discover their ideal house was available with the money-saving scheme when they resumed their search earlier this year.

“FirstBuy was a big factor for us, and without it we wouldn’t have been able to afford our new home,” says Zac (25).

“We first visited The Pinnacle a while ago, and we were planning to buy a house there, but when we heard that Abigail was expecting our first child we had to put off all of our plans.

“When we started looking again after our little boy Elliott was born, we were really happy to find that the property we wanted was available with FirstBuy.”

Available with selected properties at the development of new houses in Stoke-on-Trent the FirstBuy scheme allows qualifying first-time buyers to access their new property for just 80% of its full price, including a 5% deposit, subject to status.

“The amount of money that is needed for a deposit these days means we would never have been able to get started on the property ladder without FirstBuy,” says Zac, a self-employed joiner.

“We are from the area and we knew what we wanted, so it’s great that we could afford a good-sized place in a great location where Elliott can grow up.

“The development is really nice, we’ve got a three-bedroom semi-detached home and the layout means there is plenty of space for us inside, and the garden is a good size.

“Once the move got going, everything went really smoothly – it was very quick,” adds Zac. “And now the three of us are living in our first family home together!”

FirstBuy works thanks to a 20% joint loan from Taylor Wimpey and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) which is repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage term, or when the property is sold. The scheme is open to first-time buyers with total household earnings under £60,000.

A limited selection of homes at The Pinnacle is currently available with this fabulous incentive, including the two-bedroom ‘Clee’ coach house-style apartment, priced at £119,995, which can be accessed by qualifying purchasers for an 80% FirstBuy price of only £95,996 – including a deposit of just £5,999!

This exceptional property features a private front door and entrance leading upstairs to a lounge/dining room with a contemporary open-plan kitchen, two well-proportioned bedrooms and a main bathroom, while two allocated parking spaces are located outside.

Alternatively, stunning three-bedroom terraced houses are available at The Pinnacle from as little as £134,995, while impressive four-bedroom properties are priced from just £177,000.

Commanding an excellent location within easy reach of the Peak District, The Pinnacle boasts stunning views and is ideal for anyone who loves the great outdoors.

Closer still, a choice of shops selling everyday items are within walking distance of the development, while the area boasts seven primary schools within one mile of the homes, as well as two secondary schools. The highly regarded Keele University is under 10 miles away, while Alton Towers, Festival Park and Trentham Gardens are nearby, offering opportunity for family days out.

Commuters will appreciate that the development is a 10-minute drive from the M6, and that Greater Manchester, the Midlands and North Wales are all within easy reach.
