Make 2012 the year you step onto the property ladder

The new year is a time for making fresh starts and what better way to do just that than by buying a home of your own?

Aspiring home owners in the Black Country could find that stepping onto the property ladder is more affordable than they realised with the help of a Government-backed scheme.

Between Heritage Gardens in Tipton and Chestnut Walk in Bilston a stand-out choice of two, three and four-bedroom Redrow homes are available and with the help of FirstBuy eligible purchasers can save a fifth off the initial price of a brand new home.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), commented: “Instead of making resolutions that can be easily broken, would-be home owners should resolve to make 2012 the year that they invest in their future and make that crucial first step on to the property ladder.

“Thanks to FirstBuy those who thought home ownership was beyond their means could find it’s much more affordable than they realised, enabling them to escape the rental trap or fly the parental nest sooner than they anticipated. They won’t need a hefty cash deposit up front and should be able to access some of the better mortgage rates, usually reserved for those with lots of savings.”

With FirstBuy, savings of £4,680 plus a mortgage of £88,916* could be enough to secure a two-bedroom Redrow home, available to buy on the open market at £116,995.

The remaining share is covered by a loan jointly funded by Redrow and the Homes and Communities Agency. Interest free for five years, the loan can be repaid when the customer has more funds available or when they resell.

Despite the low price, purchasers will still be able to enjoy all of the benefits of owning a brand new Redrow home. These include a well-equipped kitchen boasting integrated appliances including microwave, oven and fridge freezer with floor to ceiling cabinets and extra wide drawers offering plenty of storage. The homes also feature family bathrooms and en-suite master bedrooms with quality fixtures and fittings and a tile range exclusive to Redrow.

Well insulated, with double glazing and central heating included as standard, they’re more energy efficient than older second hand properties, which means householders should save money on their fuel bills.

“Some people starting out in life may think they have to compromise on style to be able to afford a home of their own, perhaps settling for an older property that’s in need of lots of work and then having to invest time and money on repairs and renovations,” Pauline added.

“FirstBuy offers them a chance to own a stylish new home with the opportunity to make individual design choices such as the finish of the kitchen cabinets or the bathroom tiles to truly make it their own from day one.”
