The Spectrum is the perfect remedy for male nurse

Senior staff nurse, Mario Gumogda aged 38, from the University College Hospital had been living in rented nurses’ accommodation at Charing Cross Hospital for 7 years until he found the perfect way to buy his first new home at The Spectrum in Rayners Lane, Harrow by Home Group. By taking advantage of the Home Buy Direct scheme on offer, Mario was able to buy a one bedroom apartment and literally transform his life.
Mario explains: “I really wanted to buy my own home rather than wasting money on renting and having to share with other people. I looked at a couple of developments that offered shared ownership schemes but was really impressed with the build quality, specification and location of The Spectrum. Most importantly the development is situated within a few minutes’ walk from Rayners Lane tube station which offers the Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines and is just 30 minutes from the hospital where I work.”
Mario continues: “The Home Buy Direct scheme was the perfect option for me, as although I am the sole owner of my new home, I only had to raise a mortgage for 70% of the property. The remaining 30% was funded by Home Group and the Homes and Communities Agency and I got an interest free loan for 5 years.”
Mario adds: “Since moving in to my new home on 1st October, I have found it even better than I thought it would be. The apartment is a great size and I love having a large, separate kitchen where I can cook my favourite Oriental food. I also love spending time on my balcony, as I can enjoy the sunshine and the great views of Harrow on the Hill and the surrounding area. In addition, the buildings have solar panels to help reduce electricity and heating costs, so my bills should be as low as possible.”
Mario continues: “I have already had a house warming party and five of my friends who currently live in the nurse’s accommodation, have already made enquiries into buying at The Spectrum. I am sure they will have the same positive experience that I have had.”
Mario finishes: “I now live at number 7, which is thought to be the luckiest number by people in my home country, the Philippines, so I feel especially lucky and pleased to be living at The Spectrum, it seems like it was meant to be!”
Home Group is launching the next exciting phase of properties at The Spectrum in January 2012. Comprising one and two bedroom apartments, and two and three bedroom houses, there is already considerable interest in these homes.
The apartments at The Spectrum have been designed with an excellent specification including a fully fitted Shaker-style kitchen with oven with integral cooker and hood, a washer–dryer and full-height fridge/freezer, a thermostatically controlled shower with glass screen, ceramic floor tiling in the kitchen, bathroom and en-suite (where applicable), and carpets in all other areas. The properties are also are designed to be energy-efficient: each one has double-glazing and solar panels to reduce energy bills. In addition, there is a high-tech heating and ventilation system, an exterior balcony or private patio area; and resident’s parking.
The Spectrum is the principal element of the ambitious Rayners Lane Regeneration programme. By 2014, this ten year regeneration programme will provide 450 properties for rent and more than 300 properties for sale, transforming the estate and the lives of residents.
The Rayners Lane Estate incorporates a comprehensive range of community facilities, including new shops, public open spaces and a state-of-the-art community centre: a Sports Fun zone for active youngsters, including an equipped play area for under-8s, to be added shortly.
The Spectrum is ideally located for Harrow and Central London. It is just a 15-minute walk away from Rayners Lane Tube station, served by both the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines. Harrow-on-the-Hill is just two stops away (on the Metropolitan line). Wembley Stadium is five stops while Baker Street is just over 25 minutes away for a quick and easy commute.
Rayners Lane has a wide range of amenities, including a good range of restaurants, shops and pubs. There is also a Tesco Express close to the development.
