InspirationWorks’ Kurio Android tablet for kids has been awarded Best of Show at Toy Fair 2012 from the Gadget Show Live.

The first ever gadget toy winners – as voted for by organisers of the Gadget Show Live, the UK’s leading consumer technology event – are:

1 Kurio
Brand new Android tablet for kids.

2 Fuel Cell Cars
Features electrolysis, solar cells and fuel cells experiments.

3 AppGear Augmented Reality Zombie Burbz
Using the concept of augmented reality, each AppGear game comes with a physical toy that works in conjunction with the smart device to become a virtual experience with the player looking through the phone or tablet into a world where the action takes place.

4 Razor Electric Scooter
The newest member of Razor’s electric family. Cool and zippy with the push of a button, its single battery and foot brake are perfect for the path!

5 iPieces (particularly Game of Goose)
Innovative interactive game pieces allow all the family to play traditional games on the iPad including Game of Goose, Air Hockey, Fishing Game and Snakes & Ladders.

The top five list was chosen from the thousands of launches from more than 200 toy companies at this year’s Toy Fair trade exhibition, which opened on Tuesday 24 January at Olympia in London and runs until Thursday 26 January.

“It’s really nice to see so many toys utilising both technology and traditional play,” commented Sally Bent, marketing manager, Gadget Show Live. “The iPieces games, for example, show how technology has brought traditional retro games full circle, introducing kids to the likes of Snakes & Ladders again. It’s also great to see the way technology is being used to encourage kids to play with family and friends.”

Tracey Devine, UK marketing manager, InspirationWorks "We are overwhelmed and delighted that the Kurio has been awarded Best In Show by The Gadget Show Live. The fantastic response from the toy industry and consumers has exceeded our expectations, and we're very excited about launching the first 'grown-up' tablet for kids this summer."

“We’re thrilled to announce Toy Fair’s first ever Gadget Show Live top five - if anyone has the measure of the gadget world, it’s the Gadget Show Live,” commented Majen Immink, BTHA communications manager. “The worlds of toys and technology have been increasingly overlapping for many years and this year it’s been more noticeable than ever at Toy Fair, especially with the launch of app toys, which we’re seeing for the very first time at the show and have been added as a category to the Toy Fair Best New Toy Awards for the first time, too.
