Mortgage workshop to help first time buyers

First and second time buyers looking to get their foot on the property ladder, or simply upsize their home, are invited free events at Taylor Wimpey’s Parc Groeswen and Glyn Myndd developments in Neath Port Talbot in conjunction with Independent Financial Advisors, Cascade Finacial Services. The events, which take place on Saturday 18th and 19th February from 10am to 5pm, will provide free expert advice for anyone looking to buy a new property.
A recent report produced by the National Centre for Social Research on behalf of Halifax highlighted some of the misconceptions young people hold about buying their first home. Despite 79% believing that property is still a good investment for the future, 92% of respondents said they thought it was hard for first time buyers to get a mortgage. In fact, 9 out of 10 mortgage applications made through Taylor Wimpey’s IFAs are accepted. The research also revealed that 84% of people believe banks do not want to lend to them and 55% are scared of being turned down. However, just 9% of people who believe they have little chance of buying a home have sought professional advice.
Sara Taylor, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, comments: “An Independent Financial Advisor, or IFA, is uniquely positioned to guide first time buyers through the mortgage process. They can use their expert knowledge to ensure that all the information required is gathered and checked before an application is made and that the right mortgage product is selected dependent on the applicant’s individual circumstances.”
Taylor Wimpey says its Mortgage Workshop events have been designed to take the mystery out of buying your first home and will provide all the information, advice and expert tips needed for young people to make an informed decision about getting on the property ladder.
Sara continues: “First time buyers are understandably cautious about taking the big step of getting on the property ladder. However, there appears to be levels of fear and pessimism, particularly when it comes to getting a mortgage, not representative of the true state of the first time buyer market. Through educating buyers and offering free, impartial advice, we aim to demonstrate that owning a property is achievable and makes a sound, long-term investment.
“Plus, as an added incentive, we are offering a free 50 inch plasma television with every reservation we take at our events. So what are you waiting for, come on down this weekend and see how we can make your dream a reality.”
Taylor Wimpey’s Glyn Mynydd development is located in Godrergraig and is currently selling a selection of three and four bedroom homes from £109,995. The developers Parc Groeswen development is located in Margam and is currently selling a selection of three and four bedroom homes from £119,995.
