More than 360 people are chasing just 41 new homes in Houghton le Spring and that’s before a single brick has been laid.

The development, known as Lingfield Meadows, is being built by Charles Church North East and will comprise four and five-bedroom executive homes. It is appealing to a wide cross-section of buyers including growing families, downsizers and investors.

Debbie Zaben, sales and marketing director for Charles Church North East, said: “Lingfield Meadows offers people the chance to embrace town living and it has already attracted an enormous amount of interest.

“We are expecting that level of interest to continue now that it is open and we are taking reservations. People are buying off plan without even setting foot in their house and it certainly shows that there is a huge demand for quality new homes in this charming town.

“Lingfield Meadows is ideal for families and has great local amenities. The development is being created to suit the needs of today’s modern lifestyles, with excellent schools nearby.

“It is easy to see why it is so popular as Houghton le Spring caters for all your everyday needs with various shopping outlets within easy reach.”

Lingfield Meadows, in Gillas Lane, also gives easy access to Durham and the A1(M) which provides easy connections to Newcastle upon Tyne and Darlington.

Debbie added: “We also believe that with schemes available such as the Government-backed Help to Buy, people will find home ownership more affordable and the whole buying process a lot easier.”
Under the shared equity scheme, buyers only need a 5% deposit and are eligible for a 20% loan on the term of a mortgage, which is interest and repayment free for the first five years.

Debbie added: “Home Change is also available and, if you are eligible, we arrange at least two valuations, agree a market price and use our expertise to help sell your existing property, with all estate agency fees paid. Help to Buy is also available with Home Change. We can also Part Exchange as we aim to take away the stress of selling your own home.”
