Schools in Tonbridge will benefit from a windfall of almost £750,000 as part of plans for new homes in the town.

Award-winning homebuilder Redrow has detailed planning consent to build 183 homes on land at Tudeley Lane and will also be investing £1.39 million in the local community.

The development, known as Somerhill Green, will transform a disused brownfield site into a highly desirable residential area.

Glen Wells, land director for Redrow Homes (South East), said: “Redrow is a company people in Tonbridge know and trust. We’ve had sell-out success at Cannons Wharf and apartments at nearby Waterside Reach are proving extremely popular. Somerhill Green will give buyers more to choose from, offering everything from two-bedroom properties that are ideal for first time buyers and downsizers alike to substantial family homes with up to five-bedrooms.

“We’re also committed to ensuring our developments are sustainable and as such we’ve pledged to invest almost £1.39 million in the community in the Tonbridge area. As we’re building family homes, we’ll be contributing almost £750,000 towards local schools. We’ll also be supporting community facilities including investing more than £600,000 in open space and £35,000 in highways.”

Somerhill Green will feature 128 properties for private sale. It will also include 55 affordable homes.

Situated to the south west of Tonbridge, with direct access to the A26 and A21, Somerhill Green is ideally placed to achieve the perfect work/life balance. London can be reached in less than 40 minutes by train from the local station, while the beautiful Kent countryside is also within easy reach. Closer to home, there’s a selection of schools within walking distance.

The first homes at Somerhill Green are due to be released for sale in March. Buyers can register their interest now via the website redrow.co.uk/somerhill.
