13 February 2008
Wizz Air, the largest Central and Eastern European low fare – low cost airline announced that it had carried its 10 millionth passenger on 9 February 2008, less than 4 years after the start of operations in May 2004.
The airline has recently opened its seventh base in Poznan, Poland and already announced that it would establish its eighth operating base in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in May 2008. The Wizz network will further expand by 20 new routes in the coming months.
The Wizz Air fleet will consist of 19 Airbus A320 aircraft this summer. The continuous growth underpins Wizz Air’s market leadership in its existing home markets (Poland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria) and enables the airline to enter new geographies.
Wizz Air is projecting to carry its next 10 million passengers within 18 months from today.
