Visit London and Wizz Air announce partnership

Visit London, the official visitor organisation for the UK capital, has launched its first ever marketing campaign in Poland this week, in partnership with Wizz Air, the largest Central and East European based low fare – low cost airline.
The advertising campaign, running from 25 February to the end of March, consists of print, online and outdoor ‘street art’ and is aimed at encouraging Polish visitors to see Tutankhamun’s ‘jewels’, enjoy St Patrick’s Day in London and witness the river’s most exciting sporting event of the year, The Oxford and Cambridge boat race.
The campaign was devised following 18% growth from the Polish market in 2006, as London welcomed over half a million Polish visitors. Poland is currently the city’s 9th biggest market, worth around £278 million to the London visitor economy and if current trends continue Poland is forecast to break into the top five markets for the city by 2012.
Visit London’s Marketing Director Martine Ainsworth-Wells said: “We are seeing encouraging growth in visitor numbers from Poland and aim to capitalise on this with our first ever Polish advertising campaign. Emerging markets are becoming increasingly important to the London visitor economy as a result of shifting global tourism trends.”

We’re pleased that London will be shown to Poles from a new perspective; as a city break destination. We believe that the potential is huge and we are looking forward to exploiting it.”
Wizz Air offers flights from Katowice, Wroclaw, Poznan, Warsaw and Gdansk in Poland, serving London’s Luton, Stansted and Gatwick airports. The airline is the largest Central and Eastern European low fare airline and carried its 10 millionth passenger on 9 February 2008, less than 4 years after the start of operations.
Visit London and Wizz Air plan to run a second campaign later in the year.
