New RVs for new Honda CR-V

Honda’s Swindon-built CR-V has won a key battle in the compact SUV market, achieving the best residual value in the sector.

According to Glass’s Guide, the CR-V, which goes on sale in the UK on 1 January, is expected to retain 47 per cent of its original list price after three years / 60,000 miles – that’s three per cent better than its nearest rival, the Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4 S.

As well as being cleaner and more frugal than the Freelander, the Honda would save an owner £545 after a three year period.

Shaun Wootton, Manager – Leasing and Contract Hire at Honda (UK), was understandably delighted with the result: “We’ve achieved great results with each of the three cars launched in the tail end of 2006, with Civic Type S (41 per cent), Legend (35 per cent) and CR-V (47 per cent) all scoring well. It’s a good display of the ever growing confidence in Honda and our transition to becoming an ‘alternative premium’ brand.”
