Motor Codes, the provider of OFT-approved codes of practice for car service and repair and new car sales, has revealed the nation’s 100 most trusted garages, following six weeks of voting by thousands of motorists.

Championing the UK’s best businesses and helping motorists find the most reliable garages, Motor Codes has let the public do the talking, inviting satisfied customers to nominate their local garage through its annual Garage of the Year contest, brought to you by Havoline.

Thousands have voted in the campaign to highlight those car service centres that provide dependable service and the shortlists can be found online at garageoftheyear.co.uk, where customers of the top 100 can continue voting to help select the regional winners.

Chris Mason, managing director at Motor Codes points out the serious side of the competition, “The main purpose of Motor Codes is to point motorists in the direction of responsible businesses, committed to our transparent customer service guidelines.  We want people to be able to choose where to trust their car with confidence and what better way to make people aware of consistently good businesses than letting customers shout about the good guys?”

Motor Codes has subscribers across the whole of the UK, ranging from small independent workshops to the largest main dealers and consumers are able to search from almost 7,000 Motor Codes garages using an online garage finder at motorcodes.co.uk.

Reflecting the diversity of garages signed up to Motor Codes, the shortlisted finalists in the Garage of the Year competition are split by business size, with entrants battling it out to take the prize of best small and large garage.

Summing up the Motor Codes ethos and acknowledging the benefit Motor Codes offers, consumer editor of What Car? magazine and member of the Garage of the Year judging panel, Emma Butcher says, “Through Motor Codes, with its OFT-approved guidelines and support service, the public has access to a nationwide network of garages that are effectively government-backed.  This offers motorists a safety net and helps remove anxiety when choosing a garage.”

Voting continues for customers of the top 100 garages, closing on 22 April after which the judges will select the overall winners.

Motorists voting in the competition are in with a chance of winning a year’s free servicing, worth up to £1,000 and tickets to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
