TomTom has released the latest version (v1.10) of its app for iPhone and iPad.  The update fully integrates TomTom navigation with social media applications.

The TomTom navigation app for iPhone and iPad fully supports social networks as a source for turn-by-turn navigation.  The new version automatically plans routes based on information from Facebook events and places.  Additionally, drivers can use the app to share their destination and arrival time on Twitter, Facebook, by email and by SMS text.

The update includes the latest map.

TomTom has also launched the voice of Wallace, the animated inventor from Wallace and Gromit – the hugely successful stop-motion clay animation films created by Nick Park of Aardman Animations.

Rob Goodchild, Head of Licensing at Aardman, comments: “Wallace’s unique take on navigation guidance means that whilst you may wear the wrong trousers you will never take a wrong turn with Wallace onboard your TomTom!”

Wallace joins the growing, eclectic collection of premium character voices which TomTom already offers, including Marge Simpson, Darth Vader and SpongeBob SquarePants.  It is available as an in-app purchase priced £3.99.

The TomTom Navigation app for iPhone and iPad is now available for purchase from the Apple App Store, priced £49.99 for UK/Republic of Ireland maps.  Existing customers can download the update for free.
