The most significant changes to Vehicle Excise Duty, announced in the Government’s Budget today, will not affect the Honda CR-V – one of the cleanest and most fuel efficient 4x4s on the market. While cars in Band G have seen an increase in road tax to £300 a year, diesel-engined CR-Vs remain in Band E, emitting just 173g/km of CO2, with an average fuel economy of 43.5mpg. The petrol-engined CR-V remains in Band F, with emissions of 194g/km – lower than many family saloons and even a Mini Cooper*.
Meanwhile, the annual VED charges for Honda’s Civic Hybrid have been reduced to just £15. Its remarkably low emissions figure of just 109g/km of CO2 means it remains near the foot of the table, in Band B.
