Honda Civic Petrol & Diesel (01–05) X to 55

9th November 2007 Print
With nearly 160,000 examples sold in the UK from 2001 to 2005, the superseded Honda Civic was certainly one of the best selling medium size cars. If there is a down side to Civic ownership, it is the cost of servicing and repairs. The launch of Haynes’ latest car manual – for most Honda Civic models from X to 55 registrations – is an ideal opportunity for owners to save money! Haynes is the foremost publisher of vehicle manuals and no fewer than 150 million have been sold worldwide – the equivalent in weight to about 100,000 Honda Civics!

These extraordinary sales figures are testimony to how useful and informative Haynes manuals are. The new Honda Civic manual follows the established Haynes tradition in that it was written and illustrated following the complete stripdown and re-assembly of a car. This means that even major overhauls to the engine, transmission, suspension and brakes have full instructions, illustrations, a list of tools required and a rating for their complexity. Details of any special tools required are also included, with suggestions for DIY alternatives when possible.

The new manual is not just for those owners wishing to undertake large repairs – there are sections on daily, weekly and routine maintenance. There are instructions for straightforward tasks such as wiper blade and light bulb replacement and a section on preparing for the MOT test.

As with all Haynes manuals, there are sections on:

Maintenance – simple weekly checks to keep you on the road

Servicing – complete, fully illustrated step-by-step guides. It’s probably easier than you think, more cost effective and a lot less complicated than it used to be.

Fault-finding – information helping you to pinpoint specific problems easily

Brakes – safety checks and repairs for the home mechanic

and Haynes Tips – valuable short cuts to make many tasks easier.

Note: the models covered are all hatchbacks including special and limited editions with 1.4-litre and 1.6-lire petrol engines or the 1.7-litre diesel engine.

Haynes Manuals retail at £18.99 (hardback) and are available from haynes.co.uk or from all good automotive accessory retailers and bookshops including Halfords and Motor World.
