Channel 4 launches face-morphing Facebook app for VIP

To promote brand new celebrity impression show Very Important People, Channel 4 Marketing has launched an innovative new Facebook app, VIP ME. The augmented reality app, which can be found on the Comedyon4 Facebook page, instantly transforms users into a celebrity of their choice.

Using real-time face detection and face tracking, the VIP Me app allows the users to morph themselves into a chosen celebrity by simply looking into their webcam.

Users can choose from a range of celebrities including Cheryl Cole, Barack Obama, Adele and Gordon Ramsay. They can then record a video of their impression which is instantly shareable on their own Facebook timeline, encouraging further trail and engagement, or in the VIP ME Gallery.

Developed by Noise Inc. and using Beyond-Reality Face, VIP ME is the first Facebook app using face substitution via projection, overlaying the features of your favourite celebrity in real-time.

Shareable clips from the show built into the app allow users to sample Morgana Robinson's hilarious impressions whilst also providing transmission details, driving an audience towards episodes as they air.
