Lottery Funding helps local villages hold Diamond Jubilee Music Festival

24th May 2012 Print

The Buckinghamshire villages of Seer Green and Jordans will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in style with a huge festival of local music on Sunday 27th May. An impressive line-up of 21 acts includes school and adult choirs, as well as music from all the major genres from folk to classical to rock.

As a local community event all of the acts come from the villages of Seer Green or Jordans, but they still manage to feature both professional and semi-professional artists in the line-up. A professional stage and sound system will ensure an appropriately musical atmosphere while a hog roast, barbecue and licensed bar promises to make this a fun family day out.

Jane Smith from the Seer Green & Jordans Community Trust said: “We wanted to do something extra special to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and with so much musical talent at our fingertips a music festival was the obvious choice. We’ve been careful to ensure that the day is as family friendly as possible as we want everyone to be able to enjoy what promises to be an amazing afternoon of music and entertainment. The Lottery Funding has been crucial in helping to cover all the inevitable costs of such an ambitious event and has enabled us to keep ticket prices relatively low which we hope will encourage a high attendance. All money raised from the event will benefit both village communities.

The Diamond Jubilee Music Festival runs from 1pm to 9pm in the spacious grounds of Seer Green School and, appropriately, the Jubilee Hall. Tickets are available from justine.curtis[at]seergreen.net, local pubs and shops or on the door.
